Frank Stitt and Dolester Miles Take home The James Beard Awards!

After a many years as a finalist Frank Stitt brought home the Outstanding Restaurant of the year award. Though we, in Birmingham, have all know about the amazing artistry he has brought to Birmingham food scene and helping to shape the food culture here he again he will gain some wider recognition. The super talented Pastry Chef Dolester Miles, also from Highlands, was awarded the most outstanding Pastry Chef. Foodies from around the globe will be making there way here to taste the culinary masterpieces. Congratulations to them both!

“This town is too small to go around copying what other people are doing,” Chris Newsome says—his arms crossed tightly—perched on a stool inside his cozy neighborhood restaurant, Ollie Irene. “I mean, it’s a lot of work, but I haven’t heard anyone at the grocery store or farmer’s market complaining about our food or anything like that, so maybe that’s a good metric for our success.”
